Obituary

Robert (Bob) Nixon, 84, of St. Francis Village in Crowley, TX passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018. A private burial is planned at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.  Bob celebrated 64 years of marriage to Jane Nixon. He was the loving father of Katherine Rhodes (Bob), Don Nixon (Kimberly), Suzanne Winter (Bob), and Dave Nixon (Debbie); cherished grandfather of Stephanie, Jennifer, Brad, and Tana.

Bob was born on January 16, 1934 in New Castle, PA and was raised in Pittsburgh, PA where he excelled in high school sports.  Bob went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a diehard Steelers fan, although the time in Fort Worth gave him opportunities to cheer for the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Stars.

Bob was a computer programmer in the early years and maintained a love of computers his entire life.  Prior to moving to Fort Worth, Bob was the Plant Manager for Homestead Valve Manufacturing in Pittsburgh for 20 years. He opened Wallcoverings Unlimited after moving to Fort Worth.

Bob served in the US Army, where he spent most of his time stationed in France. Jane and Bob have shared with their family many stories of their travels in Europe during those early days of their marriage.

Bob’s quick wit and kind heart will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Bob especially cherished the trips the family took through the western states and the camping trips to Red River, NM. He was a good man, and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clotilda and James Nixon, and brothers James and William Nixon.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in his name to Community Hospice of Texas, 1111 Summit Avenue, Fort Worth TX 76102 (817.870.9995). www.CHOT.org
