Maria “Hortencia” Salinas was born on July 13th, 1943, in Monterrey (Nuevo Leon), Mexico, to David Salinas and to Raquel Backman, and passed away on March 10th, 2024, in River Oaks, Texas, at the age of 80 years old.
Hortencia was raised in Mexico City from the age of 3-years-old, and later moved to Cd. Juarez Chihuahua in 1967, in order to start a family. Hortencia had been a ballet dancer since she was a little girl, and over the years, switched over to dance to flamenco music from Spain, as her father was from Sevilla, Spain, alongside her younger sister, Teresa. Together, they were a very charismatic duet called "Las Faraonas," performing in almost every state of Mexico, while touring with several other dancers and singers.
Hortencia only retired from dancing to start a family with her beloved husband, Blas Vanzzini Ostti. They had been together since 1967 and both raised their cherished family, staying together until 2015, when her beloved husband passed away.
Hortencia was a loving mother, mother-figure, grandmother and friend, and she will be missed dearly and well-remembered.
Hortencia is preceded in death by her parents, David and Raquel Salinas, her siblings, David, Teresa, Hilda, Raquel and Martha, and by her dear husband, Blas Vanzzini Ostti.
Hortencia is survived by her children, Humberto, Adrian, and Margarita Vanzzini, her daughters-in-law, Rebecca and Sylvia Vanzzini, her grandchildren, Nikki, Adrian, Giancarlo, Andrey, Viviana, Angelo and Antonello Vanzzini., her great-grandchildren, Tyden, Mia, and Anakin Vanzzini, and her siblings, Carlos, Froylan, and Laura Salinas.
A service in Hortencia’s memory is yet to be determinate.
