Obituary

Clifford Hill Junior was born on the 18th of March, 1923, in Butler, Georgia, to Luevenia Dugger Hill and Clifford Hill Senior. Clifford Hill Junior passed away on the 3rd of August, 2020, at the age of 97 years.

Clifford served in the United States Army - from 1942 to 1946 - in the 222nd Infantry Regiment in Normandy, North France. He also served overseas in England and in Germany, in the Court Battalion, where he loaded and unloaded ships. Additionally, he was with the Red Ball Express Trucking Outfit, which delivered supplies during World War II. Clifford was honorably discharged in 1946, as a Private First Class.

Clifford moved to Jamestown in the year of 1947, and began working in Chautauqua, New York, as a chauffeur. He worked at Malleable Iron from 1948 to 1969, at the First National Bank and Chase Lincoln Bank from 1969 to 1995, and he was a self-employed trucker from 1970 to 1999. From 1995 to 2001 and 2007 to 2010, Clifford selflessly volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Clifford’s greatest accomplishments in life included his first marriage to Jane Porter, with whom he spent 58 years, raising their two daughters, Sherry J. Woodworth and Deborah B. Meyers, as well as serving as an Assistant Pastor at the North Main Street Church of God in Jamestown, New York, from 1962 to 1970 and again, from 1988 to 1991. Clifford also served as an Interim Pastor for the Franklin Church of God in Franklin, Pennsylvania, from 1970 to 1973. He served as an Assistant Pastor at the Bethany Church of God in Jamestown, New York, from 1973 to 1985, and he served at the Meadville Church of God in Meadville, Pennsylvania, from 1985 to 1988. Furthermore, Clifford served as a Chaplain at several nursing home facilities in the Jamestown area, as well as at Tanglewood Manor, a senior assisted living facility.

Clifford truly had a passion for preaching and teaching the Word of God. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing. In 2018, Clifford moved to the Dallas Fort Worth area, in order to live closer to his two beloved daughters.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jane Hill, an infant son, Robert Alan, his second wife of 8 years, Vivian Rich Hill, of Wahiawa, Hawaii, his parents, Clifford Hill Sr. and Luevenia Hill, sisters, Luevenia Dixon, Mildred Patrick, Mercy Lee Hill, LaVonya Mae Hill and Annie May Hill, brothers, Lazarus Hill, Bill Hill, Oscar Hill, Lemvie Hill and Hunzie Will Hill.

Clifford is survived by his daughters, Sherry J. Woodworth and Deborah B. Meyers (Linfert), his three grandchildren, David Woodworth, Deidre Meyers Dickey (James) and Jeneice Meyers, his four great-granddaughters, J’Leah, Miyah, Aiyanah, Zarreah, and his great-grandson, Israel. He is also survived by his dear nephew, Samuel Dixon, numerous nieces and nephews, dear relatives and many friends.
