George Ross Causey, Jr., left his earthly body on Friday, July 17, 2020, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 77. George bravely fought, and survived lung and colon cancer. He faced his final days with that same courage and bravery, ultimately passing away due to complications from coronavirus.

A memorial service will be held at Autry Funeral Home on Saturday, August 15th at 2:00 pm in Jacksonville, Texas.

George resided in Jacksonville, TX. He was born to George R. Causey and Hazel P. Causey, in Ballinger, Texas. He grew up in Jacksonville, attended Jacksonville High School, and later attended Sam Houston State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree.

George worked in, and retired from the insurance industry. During his career, he represented many different firms, making life-long friends wherever he went.

George is survived by his son, Keven Causey and grandson Nicholas Causey, of Frisco, TX; his son, Daren Causey, M.A. and wife A’ngela, of Allen, TX; his sister and brother in-law, Kay and John Keller of Jacksonville, TX, and his niece, Dr. Jennifer Keller of Rocklin, CA; extended family, Jane Croft of Frisco, TX and Theresa Stein of Rocklin, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, John Ross Keller.

George was a loving father, Papa, and a great friend. He was very funny, intelligent, determined, and was beloved by so many. Behind his stoic turned-down grin, George was always ready with a quick- witted comment or one-liner. He was a master storyteller, much of which he improvised for dramatic effect. His dry humor could make anyone crack a smile or laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed reading books, and had a passion for Major League Baseball, NASCAR and European football.

Isaiah 41:10 So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Our sincerest and heartfelt appreciation goes out to all friends that helped bring him food and take him to appointments. To the Doctors and nurses that cared for him and were by his side, we thank you. Most of all thank you Aunt Kay and Uncle John for always being there for George and for us, words are not enough.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
