Obituary

Patrick Timothy Briggs

On the morning of Friday, April 13, 2018 Patrick Timothy Briggs, age 50, was freed forever from cancer’s destruction. Surrounded by family and enveloped in love is how his Savior brought him home.

Patrick was born on December 10, 1967 in Dallas, Texas to mother Mary Hull. He was raised with his siblings, Laurie and John, in Dallas and graduated from South Grand Prairie High School. He spent better than 25 years working in the office furniture industry, most recently Furniture Marketing Group, where he thrived and gained a group of close friends; some whom he considers family.

Patrick would say his most significant life achievement, hands down, would be his family.  He was a dedicated husband and father; always thinking first of their needs before his own.  He was a servant of the Lord and relied heavily on his faith. Patrick’s friends would remember him as a jokester; always making them laugh and looking for ways to bring joy to their lives. He will always be known for his ferocious appetite and love of all things food, meeting new people, and trying new things! His hobbies included mountain bike riding, skiing, and spending time with his wife, three children, and their two four-legged, furry family members Boudin and Bailey. A quiet night at home with his family was always his favorite place to be.  But on Friday, April 13th Patrick would say his work here is done. He has received a call, a sort of an offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus; a reunion with family and friends not seen in a long time.  Job security is exactly 110 percent.

His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be held in the arms of our heavenly father and dance in the fields with his mother.  He will be free from the pains and limitations of his temporary home and will enjoy a space in time where there will be much laughter and great joy. So don't cry; but instead remember the amazing life he lived and cherish every memory until you meet again.

Patrick is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hull, who passed away on August 23, 2013.  Patrick leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife and best friend of more than 20 years, Denise Briggs, his three precious children; Jacob Patrick Briggs, Amanda Clement (Andrew), and Victoria Ward (Shay), his three grandchildren; Christian Clement, Caleb Clement and, due this June, Elizabeth Ward, as well as his brother, John Briggs (Jorja), sister, Laurie Pond, nieces, Jennifer Gonzalez and Kaitlin Briggs, nephews, Collin Briggs and Joshua Mumme, mother-in-law, Nancy Kauffman, brother-in-law, John Mumme, and his dearest lifelong friend, Don Harrell. Patrick will also be remembered by his extended family and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Patrick’s life will be held at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship located at 4141 International Parkway, Carrollton, Texas 75007 on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM.

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

I saw Patrick just a few months ago, gave him a big hug and told him how good it was to see him looking so well. I had no idea that would be the last time I would see him in this lifetime. Rest easy my dear friend. You will be missed.

My heart broke when I heard the news of Patrick's departure. I knew him through coworkers here at Richland College where he walked our hallways many, many times over the years in helping make our campus a more beautiful and comfortable place to work. He always had a big smile on his face and a "how are you today!" greeting. Patrick was one of the good ones, taken way too soon. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
