Marci Lynn Doty-Hoffman was born on July 27th, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas, to Wilbur Doty and to Barbara Frances Lowery, and passed away on April 22nd, 2024, in Alvarado, Texas, at the age of 61 years old.
Marci was raised in Harlingen, Texas, along with her brother, Kevin D. Doty, and graduated from Harlingen High School in 1980 as a first chair trumpet in the marching band. She spent some time in San Antonio, before finding a home in Dallas, with her beloved husband, Gary Hoffman, and her daughter, Crystal Doty, where she worked tirelessly as a Patient Advocate at the Dallas VA Medical Center for nearly two decades.
Marci loved music, and she loved to laugh. She loved animals, bargain hunting, scary movies, and Dallas Mavericks basketball. She loved being with her family, caring for the home she worked so hard to build, and everything to do with Christmas.
But more than anything, Marci loved to help. She dedicated herself to veteran's causes until she was no longer able, and was always ready to give of herself for a soul in need. She was a fiercely devoted daughter, mother, wife, and friend, and truly committed to loving her neighbor. She was the first to show up to help in a crisis and the last to go home when the work was done, and touched lives with her kindness and generosity every single day.
Marci is preceded in death by her father, Wilbur D. Doty.
Marci is survived by her mother, Barbara Doty; her husband, Gary Hoffman; her older brother, Kevin D. Doty; her children, Crystal Doty and Caleb Thiebaud; as well as by a large extended family, and countless dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a contribution to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in Marci's name to support a cause that was close to her heart.
