Carolyn Burk passed away on June 19, 2018, in Aubrey, Texas, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Carolyn was born on May 11, 1939 in Durant, Oklahoma to Albertis Tuck Hutton and Maureen (Shelton) Hutton, both whom preceded her in death. She spent years in California, Oregon, Nevada and Texas before meeting and marrying Len Burk at Santa’s house in North Pole, Alaska. She moved around the world with Len and their kids, building friendships. Carolyn and Len were married 30 years before Len passed away in 2001.
She had a variety of interests and pleasures of life. Gardening was one of her favorite activities. Putting her fingers and hands into the Earth was joyful, and she had the greenest thumb! Carolyn was an avid and good bowler, active on leagues well into her 70’s, winning many tournaments and awards over the years, as well as forming strong friendships.
Carolyn loved See’s candy, strawberry milkshakes, music from the 1950’s, a good hamburger, shopping, dancing, crossword puzzles and jokes. Two items she was always wearing: earrings and lipstick! And in May, she was baptized.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Aaron Cabrera and daughter, Jackie Burk, and their families. She’s also survived by her silly little dog, Wild “Zee” Chihuahua, who insisted on sleeping under a blanket between her calves anytime she wasn’t up and doing something.
Carolyn will not have a traditional funeral service. Her ashes will be sprinkled where her husband’s ashes were spread in West Texas. A celebration of life gathering will take place. Once details are settled, more information will be distributed.
